Transit security is everyone’s business. Be alert! Report any suspicious activity. An anti-terrorism campaign for OC Transpo and STO

Transit security is a worldwide concern since the terrorist attacks of Madrid and London a few years ago. Thanks to funding by Transport Canada, both regional public transit systems in the National Capital have joined with five other major Canadian cities in launching an awareness campaign to enlist citizen participation in keeping our transit systems safe and secure, to be on the alert for suspicious situations and behaviours and to help foil terrorist attacks against buses and other transit system installations.
InnovaCom Marketing & Communication was invited OC Transpo and the Société de transport de l’Outaouais to assist them in preparing the communication messages and tools used in this awareness campaign. We joined with the communication teams of both transit systems to build a dedicated website, to produce a information brochure available on buses, to design and produce posters aboard buses and exterior busboards, as well as news releases, factds sheets and more to create awareness in the general public.
Our greatest satisfaction in executing this assignment surely resides in having convinced both transit systems to adopt
a unique and single telephone number 310-2828, without having to dial the area code, accessible to residents of both communities of the Outaouais and Ottawa to report suspicious activities, unusual behaviours or incidents likely to be linked to terrorism. To our knowledge, this initiative is a first in Ottawa-Gatineau. For more information, visit special sections in the
OC Transpo and
STO websites.
